Pandemic Fatigue and Vaccine Hesitancy Continue to Affect Global Public Health

A recent survey published in Nature Medicine sheds light on global vaccine acceptance, revealing mixed sentiments towards COVID-19 boosters and routine immunizations. Conducted by CUNY SPH researchers across 23 countries, the study underscores lingering challenges such as vaccine misinformation and inequitable distribution.

 

While COVID-19 vaccine uptake reached 87.8%, booster intent declined to 71.6%, concerns persist over evolving variants and hesitancy among high-risk groups. Moreover, pandemic disruptions pose threats to routine immunization efforts. Despite hurdles, there's a general openness to vaccination, indicating opportunities to bolster confidence.
