Global Fertility Rates to Plunge in Decades Ahead

A recent study published in The Lancet reveals a continuing decline in global fertility rates, predicting a significant demographic shift by the end of the century. From 1950 to 2021, the average number of children born to a woman has dropped from 4.84 to 2.23, with projections indicating a further decrease to 1.59 by 2100.

Factors contributing to this trend include increased opportunities for women in education and employment, better access to contraception and reproductive health services, and economic considerations such as the cost of raising children and changing societal values. Read more from CNN here.
