What to Know About the EPA’s Upcoming Car Emissions Standards

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is on track to finalize new emissions standards for cars and light trucks, continuing its legacy of safeguarding public health under the Clean Air Act. These standards, applicable from 2027 to 2032, are projected to yield significant public health benefits, potentially amounting to $280 billion.

Additionally, cutting greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles by 56% is crucial for combating climate change, given that the transportation sector accounts for 29% of total U.S. emissions.
