U.S. Measles Cases Surpass 2023 Total in First Three Months of This Year, CDC Says

The CDC reported a concerning increase in measles cases in the U.S., surpassing the total for 2023. As of March 21, 64 cases have been confirmed across 17 jurisdictions. The CDC issued a health advisory urging vaccination, especially for children and international travelers, emphasizing the high contagiousness of measles.

 

Several countries, including Austria, the Philippines, Romania, and the United Kingdom, are grappling with measles outbreaks. Despite the increase, the CDC noted low risk of widespread spread due to high population immunity in most U.S. communities, but cautioned about potential outbreaks in areas with low vaccination coverage.
