Lyme Disease is Becoming a Bigger Problem

Lyme disease is increasingly prevalent, with 62,551 cases reported in 2022, a significant rise from the previous decade's average of 33,000 annual cases, according to the CDC. This tick-borne illness, primarily transmitted through bites in wooded areas, poses a significant public health concern. The CDC warns that actual cases may be up to ten times higher than reported.

The states with the highest infection rates include Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. Public awareness and preventive measures are crucial to combating this growing health threat. Read more from USA Today here.
