Fighting Early-Stage Alzheimer’s with Intensive Lifestyle Changes Works, Study Finds

A groundbreaking 2024 study led by Dr. Dean Ornish suggests that intensive lifestyle changes — including a plant-based diet, daily exercise, stress reduction, and social support — may help stabilize or even reverse early-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Over 40 weeks, 46% of participants improved cognitive function and another 37.5% showed no decline. Participants who fully embraced the regimen saw the greatest benefit.

Unlike drug treatments, these interventions carry no harmful side effects and may reduce Alzheimer’s markers in the blood. While further large-scale studies are needed, these findings offer hope that lifestyle medicine can become a powerful, non-invasive tool in cognitive health. Read more from CNN here.
