New PHCC Resource: Communicating About Acetaminophen and Pregnancy

The Public Health Communication Collaborative (PHCC) has released a new resource to support communicators responding to confusion about acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy. Recent reports suggesting a link to autism have raised public concern, yet leading medical organizations, including ACOG and SMFM, continue to recommend acetaminophen as the safest option for pain and fever relief during pregnancy.

The PHCC guide provides talking points, strategies for empathetic communication, and tips for explaining the difference between association and causation. This resource helps communicators address misinformation, build trust, and amplify evidence-based guidance from healthcare providers. Find the guide from PHCC here.
