Study: COVID-19 Associated with Increased Risk of Brain Disorders Two Years After Infection

A study published last Wednesday shows a history of COVID-19 infection is associated with an increased risk of neurological aftereffects. “COVID-19 is associated with increased risks of neurological and psychiatric sequelae in the weeks and months thereafter,” reads the study, titled “Neurological and psychiatric risk trajectories after SARS-CoV-2 infection: an analysis of 2-year retrospective cohort studies including 1,284,437 patients.” How long these risks remain, whether they affect children and adults similarly, and whether SARS-CoV-2 variants differ in their risk profiles remains unclear, the study, published in The Lancet Psychiatry journal, continues.
